Outfit: Dress made from original 1940s pattern, featuring cream silk insert to bodice, turned back lapels and sleeve cuffs with button trim.

Shoes: Chocolate suede peep toe heels with top stitching.

Hair: Worn curled and pinned back with the lengths loose, and a cream floral clip.

Accessories: Nude hosiery (I forgot to put on the jewellery before the pics! But I wore a vintage green jade bangle and opal and diamond stud earrings).

Perfume: DKNY ‘Be Delicious’.

      My favourite era for fashion is the 1940s; the ladies then had to do so much with so little and because of this, the workmanship and detail in 40s garments is usually amazing – lots of tucks and pleats to give interest and shape.
